Alicia Neasmith

Alicia is a certified personal trainer specializing in nutrition & body transformation. She is on a mission to motivate & energize her clients to live a happy & healthy lifestyle. Alicia competes in Fitness, Swimsuit and Figure competitions all around the world in different federations with numerous titles under her belt. At the age of 18 she was the youngest competitor to win her pro card. She has also done stunt work in local movies in Montreal. Alicia has been a competitive athlete all her life. She was a national and provincial record holder in swimming for Canada for many years as well as an elite soccer player before making the transition to personal trainer and swim coach. To complement her personal training and fitness instructor certifications, Alicia is also a Certified Holistic Sports Nutrition advisor, as well as a biosignature level 1 practitioner. She has recently completed the AFTA (American Fitness Training of Athletes) Certification. Her athleticism and coaching experience has made Alicia an excellent fit on the Le Club DLT (Dry Land Training – youth athletic conditioning program) team of instructors. She was an integral part in the development and improved athletic performance of the Lakeshore Hockey’s double letter players, from atom to midget, for the 2010-2011 season. Alicia believes in living by example, therefore she practices what she preaches…living and breathing the fitness lifestyle.

Asif Alli

Asif is a driven, hard working and competitive athlete, having excelled at the national level in soccer, as well as the provincial level in rugby, baseball and track and field.  His athletic background and experience as coach of elite sports teams has complemented his qualities as an expert in youth athletic conditioning. In his five years in the fitness industry, Asif has gained experience working with various elite athletes, including hockey players, marathoners and cross country skiers.  He has also worked closely with athletes rehabilitating from various sports injuries. Asif is a valuable asset to Le Club’s DLT (Dry Land Training – youth athletic conditioning program) team of instructors due to his athletic background combined with his fitness expertise. He was an integral part in the development and improved athletic performance of the Lakeshore Hockey’s double letter players, from atom to midget, for the 2010-2011 season. In addition, Asif is a certified personal trainer who focuses on functional and athletic training with all his clients. Rounding out his repertoire he is also a certified indoor cycle instructor. He is a very motivated trainer who is constantly seeking new challenges in the fitness world.

Carole Cousineau

Carole has been working in the fitness industry since 1987.  She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education (Fitness Specialization) in 1988 and moved on to working full time in the fitness industry soon after that. Her 25 years in the fitness industry include managerial responsibilities in:  aquatics, adult fitness programming, personal training and fitness assessment programming.   In addition to this, Carole is also a certified group exercise/group cycling instructor, a certified Yoga Alliance teacher and personal trainer.  She enjoys teaching muscular circuit classes, indoor cycle, and yoga. Carole has been active her whole life through swimming, skiing, hiking, biking, running, weight training and yoga.  She believes that having a goal helps tremendously when trying to stay active, which is why she challenged herself to run the Montreal Marathon in 2006. She believes that there is a way for everyone to include physical activity into their busy lives, no matter the obstacles.  Carole’s friendly and easygoing approach helps her clients to find ways to make fitness a priority in their lives.  She enjoys challenging them with fun and motivating workouts.  There is nothing more rewarding to her than seeing someone she has trained or taught achieve their goals. Carole has been the Fitness Director at Le Club West Island since 2006.  She is proud to be part of a team of true exercise professionals with a common goal to share their expertise and love for fitness with the members of Le Club.

Darlene Phair

Darlene became hooked on fitness when she attended her first aerobics class with her mother in the early 1990’s garbed in bright purple tights.  Her athleticism, combined with her dynamic and energetic personality made for an easy transition from participant to instructor.  For the last 20 years she has enjoyed a very rewarding career in many different aspects of the fitness industry. Darlene is a certified Group Fitness and Stott Pilates Instructor, Personal Trainer, Corrective Conditioning and Sports Conditioning Specialist. Darlene has taught a variety of classes throughout the years such as aerobics, step, kickboxing, bootcamp, indoor cycling, Pilates and muscular conditioning.  She strives to motivate and educate her participants and clients to tackle their fitness challenges and goals with the same passion and determination that she does with hers. In 2006, she joined the Le Club West Island team as an indoor cycle instructor and has worked her way up to her dream job as Director of Sports and Recreation where she juggles her administrative duties with teaching group conditioning classes and training clients.

George Cook

George has been involved in various aspects of fitness for 25 years.  His philosophy is that fitness should be a part of every day life to help maintain a happy and healthy lifestyle. Being a “Baby Boomer” himself, he enjoys working with mature adults.  George believes that you are never too old to exercise and he is a perfect example that exercise does work.   In 1994, at the age of 47 and after 4 years of study, George received his Black Belt Certification in Wado Kai Karate and proceeded to teach karate throughout the 90’s.  His motto is that “you can think young, you cannot think fit.” George is a certified YMCA FIT personal trainer and YM-YWHA indoor group cycling instructor.  He has completed courses in TRX conditioning, back care and stretching techniques, resistance training for women, functional training for mature adults, and fundamentals in exercise and program design. George continues to take fitness workshops to stay focused and up-to-date with all the latest techniques.  He also teaches a popular small group personal training fitness class for Baby Boomers called: “Boomer Groomer!” In his leisure time, George is an avid golfer.

Nancy Andersen

Nancy comes by her profession honestly.  She is the daughter of two Olympians and in the late seventies she was a sponsored competitor on the Women’s Freestyle Ski Circuit, specializing in aerials.  Nancy was a member of the Rossignol Freestyle Ski Team and appeared on the ABC network after placing 2nd at the world’s aerialist competition in Snow Bird, Utah.  Due to her success she was asked to appear in a Labatt Blue commercial which aired for 4 years every football season. In order to keep her fitness alive, Nancy has competed in a number of sprint triathlons throughout the years.  She is a certified ski instructor (CSIA level 2) and taught in the Laurentians for many years, and is an avid road cyclist in the summer. She regularly practices yoga with her favourite Ashtanga teachers at Sattva Yoga Shala in downtown Montreal, where she completed her 200 hour teacher training certificate in 2008. In addition to yoga, she holds certifications in personal training, group conditioning, and indoor cycling. Nancy’s enthusiasm in the fitness field inspires her clientele to do the best they can to attain their goals.  Whether teaching, coaching or training, her passion shows through her work. Her current challenge is to ride her first 100 mile race in the Gran Fondo in New York May 2011. Nancy continues to attend seminars to further her education in fitness and to stay current with the changing trends.

Patrick Yates

Combined with his athleticism and his keen interest in sports, Patrick competed in hockey and lacrosse at the provincial levels. Patrick was an apprentice for several summers with Barry Brennan, who is currently the strength and conditioning coach for the Atlanta Thrashers. There he gained valuable experience not only working with elite athletes, but alongside a high level professional coach. He has also trained with Otis and Howard Grant. These training experiences, as well as his natural aptitude for sports, have inspired Patrick to become a personal trainer. He is currently taking his personal training certification through the YMCA. Patrick brings to Le Club West Island, a vast knowledge of sports specific training. He enjoys working out and is looking forward to helping others achieve their fitness goals.
