Happy and Safe Holidays From Our Family to Yours

Wow!  Where did the year go?  For our members who have been with us throughout the whirlwind of changes during the past 12 months, we thank you and we are so grateful to have you with us.  You are very much like family, sticking with us through construction, dust and debris. Your patience, support, and encouragement form the foundation of our transformation and our future is looking so bright because of you.  We have a little something special for you in January in appreciation of your support.

For members that are new to LeClub or who have returned, welcome to our family.

On behalf of the entire staff, I would like to wish all our members, friends and partners a very Happy Holidays.  We are very excited about what the future holds and we hope you will continue to share yours with us.

How Many Calories Did You Consume During Thanksgiving?

Many of us have just enjoyed a tasty and very satisfying Thanksgiving dinner complete with turkey, stuffing, potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and lots more… tastes great and we may have enjoyed sharing a meal with family and friends. But what about our waistlines and our health? How many calories and how healthy is a traditional Thanksgiving meal? Did your Thanksgiving dinner look something like this?

8 ounces of white and dark meat turkey: 480 calories
1 cup mashed potatoes with butter: 240 calories
1 cup stuffing: 360 calories
2 ladles of gravy: 200 calories
3/4 cup candied sweet potatoes: 300 calories
1 cup green bean casserole: 140 calories
1/2 cup cranberry sauce: 200 calories
1 roll with butter: 180 calories
1 piece of pumpkin pie with whipped cream: 240 calories
2 glasses of wine or beer: 300 calories
Total: 2,640 calories

If you are one of the very many Canadians who have indulged in a typical high calorie, high sodium, high fat, high carbohydrate and low fiber Thanksgiving meal, do not be disheartened. Spending quality time with family and friends is sometimes just as important as eating nutritious food and exercising your body. But now that the heavy meal has ended, it is up to each and every one of us to take control, move your body, lighten up your diet and get back on the healthy, low calorie eating that can add quality years to your life.
